2011 BCSFP Final Poll

Alabama was voted as the 2011 BCSFP National Champion after shutting out and shutting down now #3 LSU, 21-0. The Crimson Tide garnered over half of the first-place votes (26 of 46), while Oklahoma St came in at #2 with 16 first-place votes after their OT win over #5 Stanford. LSU wound up with 4 first-place votes. #18 West Virginia had the best move, jumping up 5 spots from #23 after disassembling #22 Clemson, 70-33. #17 Kansas St had the worst move, falling from #12 following their loss to Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl.

The 2011 college football season has come to an end, and even with no games left to play, there is still some debate over who should be #1. Feel free to enter the discussion in the forums or chime in on any number of active topics.

The voting booth will be open for the final poll of the season until midnight Monday night, January 16th, so be sure to submit your poll by then. If this is your 4th (or more) consecutive week of voting, please apply for official pollster status in the forums!

BCSFP Heisman Trophy Winner: Robert Griffin III

The BCS Fan Poll voters have agreed with the real Heisman voters, selecting Robert Griffin III as the unofficial BCSFP Heisman Trophy winner. Griffin, who also won the real Heisman last Saturday, is a junior quarterback at Baylor University.

Over the course of the 2011 season, Griffin piled up 3,998 passing yards on 369 attempts, with a 72.4 completion percentage. He averaged 10.8 yards per attempt while throwing for 36 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions. In addition, he rushed for 644 yards and 9 touchdowns on 161 carries.

2011 BCSFP Week 13

#1 LSU is appearing to be near-superhuman at this point, and received all but 1 1st-place vote this week….does #14 Georgia stand any kind of chance in Atlanta? #11 Arkansas had the worst week in the poll, plummeting 8 spots from #3 after being LSU’s latest victim. No one made a real breakthrough moving up in the poll; #19 Nebraska had the best jump moving up 3 spots after a decent win over Iowa. West Virginia, Southern Miss, and Arkansas St – who made their first ever appearance in the BCS FP – entered the Top 25, replacing Notre Dame, Virginia, and Georgia Tech.

Lots of good discussion going on the forums: bowl games, coaching changes, who’s #2, playoffs??….drop in and give your two cents!

2011 BCSFP Week 11

LSU and Oklahoma St remained in the top 2 spots this week, both winning in routs. Alabama moved up to #3, and #4 Oregon and #5 Oklahoma moved back into the Top 5. TCU made the biggest jump, moving up 5 spots after their thrilling upset of Boise St. Penn St fell the farthest (9 spots) after a close home loss to Nebraska.

2011 BCSFP Week 8

Hello, Pollsters! Despite losing a couple voters since last week’s poll, we still had a solid turnout with 58 ballots cast. LSU and Alabama are still #1/#2 in the poll, with a significant drop-off to 3rd place, which Oklahoma St holds by a mere 3 votes over #4 Stanford. #10 Michigan St continues to rocket up the standings and was the biggest winner of the week, moving up 6 spots after a miraculous hail mary-win over #11 Wisconsin. The Badgers, along with #9 Oklahoma, suffered their first loss of the season in an upset and took a major hit to their national title hopes. The biggest loser of the week was West Virginia, who fell all the way out of the poll from #14 after being embarrassed by Syracuse.

2011 BCSFP Week 7

There continues to be a large separation between the top 3 teams in the poll and the rest of the field. LSU remained in first place this week after overtaking Alabama for the top spot last week, with 29 first place votes to Alabama’s 20, while Oklahoma stayed in 3rd place with 8 1st-place votes. Wisconsin is at a solid 4th place with 2 1st-place votes, while #5 Oklahoma St, #6 Boise St, and #7 Stanford all finished within 7 votes of each other. Of those 3, only Boise St received a single 1st-place vote. #16 Michigan St was the biggest winner in this week’s poll, jumping up 9 spots after their win over #17 Michigan, while #21 Georgia Tech fell the farthest, down 10 spots after being upset by Virginia. We had a great voter turnout once again this week, with 60 pollsters voting in the official poll. Let’s keep it up!

BCSFP 2011 Week 5

Alabama climbed back into 1st place in this week’s fan poll following an impressive road win against now #16 Florida. LSU came in 2nd despite racking up the most 1st-place votes (26 to Alabama’s 23), finishing just 4 points behind ‘Bama. Also receiving 1-place votes are #3 Oklahoma (6), and #4 Wisconsin and #5 Stanford with 1 each. South Florida and TCU both dropped out of the poll following considerably bad losses, replaced by #18 Auburn, who had dropped out in Week 3, and #20 Kansas St, entering for the first time. The best mover this week was Arkansas, gaining 8 spots to #13 following a come-from-behind win against Texas A&M. South Florida was the worst mover, dropping all the way out from #14.
